Dr. Kathleen Akers graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She then attended Creighton University for dental school. While at Creighton, Dr. Akers was part of the Idaho Dental Education Program and worked as a teaching assistant in the Departments of Endodontics and Periodontics. She also participated in an externship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Department of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Akers attended University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for her Periodontics training. Upon completion, she received a Master's in Science with a Certificate in Periodontics. After graduation, Dr. Akers became Board-Certified in Periodontics.
Dr. Akers has been a licensed dentist in the state of Texas since 2006. She holds permits for enteral, parenteral, and nitrous oxide anesthesia. She is a member of the American Dental association, Greater Houston Society of Periodontists, and Southwest Society of Periodontists. She is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology.
