Sumana came to Dr. Young as a new patient, but she had never been educated on the issues with her bite. Her canines on top and bottom and both sides were end on meaning that the tips of her canines had been so significantly worn due to years of malocclusion. She had some other fracture lines present on other teeth and extensive wear into the second layer of her tooth (dentin) which is much softer than enamel and wears quickly once exposed. With proper education, the patient realized it was important to address these pressing matters. Sumana had her upper 8 and lower 10 teeth covered in protective porcelain. She now wears a night guard to prevent damage to her other teeth and her porcelain.
